Origin of Raksha Bandhan || Rakhi History||Speech on rakhi

'Raksha Bandhan ' means  'Bond of Protection'. Raksha bandhan is one of the most celebrated  hindu festival every year in not only in India but also in many other countries.
This festival shows the unlimited love of brother and sister. This is not limited between blood relations. It is also celebrated with cousins ,sister in laws ,fraternal aunts, and other such relations. The brother gives her sister a token gift and promise for protecting her forever.

History of Rakhi or Raksha bandhan:

According to this story, the origin of Raksha Bandhan comes from the ancient times when Indrani [Hindu goddess] , wife of Indra [Hindu God ]received a thread from God Brihaspati[Hindu God] and tied it around his husband [Indra-Hindu God] right wrist for protecting him in the war between Gods and demons.

The story starts like this,Long ago a battle was taken place between Gods and demons, this battle runs for 12 years but at the end Demons won the battle. Now the demons  took the throne of God-Indra and also on the three worlds. When Indra lost his throne,he took the advice of the teacher of spirituality Gods-Brihaspati .He adviced him to chant some mantras ,which protects him.God-Brihaspati initiated the process of chanting the mantras in the month of Shravan on a Full Moon Day.
In the ceremony of reciting mantras,a thread was tied around a small packet which contains blessings and after this ceremony the small packet which contains protection blessings was tied to God Indra by his wife Shachi or Indrani on God Indra's right wrist. These blessings brought back Lord Indra's power to defeat the demons and reclaim his throne of his kingdom.
On account of this, every year in the month of Shravan on Full moon day we celebrate this as a festival known as 'Raksha Bandhan'

So this one story behind rakhi but there are many stories
